Stormwater Management
Hydraulics and Hydrology, Drainage design, Detention calculations and design and Erosion & Sediment Control.
Stormwater is where a civil design either holds up under a real storm or doesn't — it's the discipline with the most regulatory scrutiny and the least room for guesswork. It covers everything from how much water a site generates to where it's stored, and how it's kept clean on the way out.
My work here spans hydraulic analysis and hydrograph generation in Civil 3D to determine storage requirements, detention pond design across grass, concrete, and underground vault systems depending on what a site can support, and TxDOT-aligned hydrograph calculations for driveway and drainage approval. I also manage SWPPP documentation and erosion and sediment control plans, since a detention design is only as good as the paperwork that gets it approved.
Whether it's a county detention ordinance or a TxDOT hydraulics submission, the approach is the same: run the numbers correctly the first time, and design a system that a reviewing authority can approve without back-and-forth.
Typical Deliverables
- Hydrology and hydraulic calculations
- Detention pond design and sizing
- SWPPP and erosion control plans
- TxDOT hydrograph and driveway submissions
